The barrier project is inspired by the privacy fences homes in neighborhoods have which delineate a properties start and end points. The irony about this land intervention lies within its function. Its utility is more similar to the way we observe and acknowledge state and county lines. Due to this, the barrier is transparent like nature. In the natural landscape, everything is exposed, unlike a domestic yard surrounded by a fence. This installation directs traffic in the landscape and allows the participant to see the land through the grid. Optically and physically, the barrier is a sensory experience that offers people an alternative perception of the terrain.
